How to bar lace a skate shoe

Learning how to tie your shoes may seem a little lame, but Nick from Zappos.com shows us how to clean up our shoe’s with this neat Bar Lace (also known as straight lacing) whilst making those laces catch free.

Soldiers in the armed forces often choose tie their boots with a bar lace because it allows them to quickly cut the laces if they need to remove their boots immediately. Many people also bar lace because it can reduce the wear and tear that you will often senn with the more traditional criss-cross lacing.

Bar lacing looks particularly great on a new pair of skate shoes with wide flat laces, but also tidy up you image on office and casual shoes, giving you that extra touch of style.

This video should make it all straight forward – find the middle of the lace and make sure you feed it through from the outside of the eyelets. Follow the pattern through and you’ll soon have a pair of shoes with catch free laces. Bar lacing is perfect for many of the Vans Skateshoes.
